More About
I was born and raised in Kanab, UT. I grew up not really appreciating the blessing it was to have everyone know who I was and what I was up to at any given moment. When I was young, it was hard to appreciate so many things, like how small and undeveloped Kanab is, but I came to realize how important having a community that cares is in the development of a person.
When I was 20, I married a marine and moved away to North Carolina. I had a newborn baby and a husband that was in a very dangerous area of Afghanistan. It was a dark time for me. I was constantly afraid for my husband, nervous about being a new mother, and away from all of my family and friends. It was in this time, as the other marine wives gathered around to comfort me and to be comforted, that I first started to realize how important a strong community is. I remembered that I came from a town that offered me such a strong support system and people who really cared about me. I couldn't wait to go back!
I have always had a calling to improve the physical and mental health of the people in my community. I am a massage therapist and an EMT. I spent 2 years as a life coach in a residential therapy program. I spent 3 years working in a chiropractic office both as a massage therapist, as well as in an administrative role.
When I found WinGate, I once again found a community of people that truly cares about the mental health and development of adolescents and young adults. It is a community of people that want to see how a person can thrive in discovering how strength in others can build strength in one's self. This is a lesson that shaped who I am today. I am happy to be part of the community and look forward to seeing our clients learn to thrive!
