Many troubled teens and young adults enter WinGate Wilderness Therapy with a poor, recent track record of academic success.
Given enough time for contemplation in a therapeutic environment, our students make the decision to reorient their lives in a conscious and intentional direction. For some, this involves leaving behind old habits of substance use or poor choices and rededicating themselves to pursuing their academic goals.
Four years ago, we started offering an academic element as part of our wilderness therapy program and hundreds of our graduates have taken advantage of it. We did this at the request of parents who were worried about their students falling behind academically. So, when your student completes our wilderness program, they can receive six, half-credit, high school credits from Accreditation Services. Here is a list of the courses for which your student can receive high school credits.
Our academic specialist, Karren Bertola is ready to explain the program and see if it is a good fit for your student. This is a totally optional program and you are in no way required to participate. But, for a one-time fee of $250, Accreditation Services can issue six half-credits toward your student's high school requirements for the time spent in our program.
Also, Karren is willing to work with any parent, without additional charge, to conduct an academic audit of their student and develop an academic plan to help toward completion of their high school graduation requirements.
